I bought this and wired it to the backside of my cigarette lighter inside the fairing. Then ran the usb part out to my Garmin 750.

Works great.

The spade connector has a hole in it, strip the wires about 1/2 inch then slide the red ( hot ) to the center spade. Slide the female connector over the male spade. black ( ground ) goes to the outside spade.

Check out this site.
I mounted the power unit for my NUVI 500 in the fairing and ran the wire up the handlebar to my RAM mount. Only problem will be if the fuse blows but so far so good.
