Unhappy HD SE Spark Plug Wires - Beware!

Thought I'd pass along another Moco nightmare. I went to the local stealer for some new spark plug wires. I wanted the Screaming Eagle pn#31932-99A. These are listed as direct replacement 8mm wires for my 06 EGC. Parts guy says these wires have been replaced with pn#31932-99B. So I bought them and opened the box and found out they are 10mm wires. Considerably thicher than the 8mm. I lifted the tank up and removed the old wires. Then I found out the wiring clips are way too small for the new 10mm wires. And the coil boots are longer, so they get a bit squished down when you put the tank down. Luckily I had some similar clips for a wire loom from my son's Yamaha that clipped on the numbs under the frame back bone. Plus a few wire tyes and the installatiion looked ok.

You would think they would give you new clips in the package or tell you you need them..NOT!! And there is a BIG sticker on the box warning you that "installation of these parts may reduce or void your Harley-Davidson warranty".

Ya gotta love it!

I use the SE wires on my Carbed 06 1200C. For the FI bikes I go stock HD wires. They run good on the Stock wires. There was a Thread here that the SE wires some times screw things up on account of resistance is different then stock wires.

I've been running the SE Red wires on my Dyna for over 4 years with no problems and they fit the stock wire clip with no problem, they must have gone to the larger wire sometime after 2004.

Hey Bob, "You would think they would give you new clips in the package or tell you you need them..NOT!! And there is a BIG sticker on the box warning you that "installation of these parts may reduce or void your Harley-Davidson warranty".

Welcome to the world of Harley Davidson. You buy a $300.00 chromed cover or something other doodad and expect a new gasket? Not going to get one. That's another $20.00 for some gaskets, clip, or other small part that you'd think would come with the kit, but never does.

I don't buy hardly anything that says Screamin Beagle on it unless I have to. As far as wires I use Magnacores on every vehicle I own, they will last forever.
