I'm interested in the outcome of this one. On Monday I rode my 2009 Ultra in the rain for about 20 minutes on the way home from work. Tuesday and Wednesday were dry and I rode to work both days; roughly 50 mile round trips. Each evening there was a new puddle under the swingarm on the left side, near the front of the belt guard.

You'd think it would eventually run out of water.

My Brother called Harley, and basically what it boils down to is that everyone having this problem needs to go to their dealer and have it documented, when enough complaints come in H-D will do something about it - so get to your dealers...

Where is the water pooling? I have an 09 EGC and haven't seen the puddle yet.

Someone once told me that the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. So, the second dumb question is what is a swing arm? I'm a newbie and still learning. any pics will probably help. I don't read books I just look at pictures.

It's the two-leged gizmo that holds the rear wheel and moves ("swings") up and down under the control of the rear shock absorbers. You barely escaped a "dumb question" remark though

I also have rust on belt guard.

But, I have NOT looked into it.

I thought a bolt was rusting up under seat somewhere. The 'through' tapped holes all rust weep on my 09SG, eg: front frame top motor mount houle, foot peg holes, etc.

I just dab them with grease.

I will look at swing arm during next rust-a-thon.

Ditto. Thought it was condensation and am still not convinced that it's not. I have not seen any rust on the belt.
