Wrong. All it needs to lift powdercoat is an edge, like at any machined surface . Not to mention what they can to to seals and electronics.

My starter on my 08 has got some cracks in the coating that I am just waiting for it to start coming off. I'm just going to prep it and fix it myself with the HD engine paint touch up.

I'm pretty sure that is not powder coat - its high temp paint. I had the same problem with inner primary and they replaced it with a chrome one.
