Trashed my Rush mufflers

is that regular masking tape you used to sesure the batting ?
I had to replace one of the baffles that was damaged during removal. Rush has a new design now. I contacted them and was told that the new smaller diameter bell helps with the rattle. It also has a slot instead of a hole for the mount. They told me to place the baffle in the muffler and smack it with a mallet and a 2x4 to seat it before tightening the bolt that holds the baffle. That smaller end would sure make removal easy in the future also!

I repacked mine last night. I also used regular masking tape and that stuff really stinks! I was wondering if I should have used packing tape so it would melt instead of burn.
I used FMF 4 stroke packing from the local dirtbike shop. Its the second time I've done the right side baffle this year. It only seems to last a few months before the alarm clock rattle starts back up again. Seems to me there should be a bolt in the front bell to prevent the rattle because as soon as the packing starts to break down, the bell will vibrate against the muffler body.

I pulled my 2.25s & replaced them with 2.5s. Came out a little hard, but not bad. I "unwrapped" a wire coat hanger, stuck it in over the top of the crossbar, back around the bottom of the crossbar & yanked on 'em until they came out. I can see where repacking would be a pain. If I ever had to repack, I think I'd save myself the aggravation & just buy entire new "pre-packed" baffles!
