Default Tour Pak Backrest Pad!

I have a 2009 Streetglide vivid black and just install a king quick detach tour pak with the wrap around HD smooth backrest pad. I was just wondering about the wrap around part does not fit tight on the tour pak and sticks up and away about atleast a 1/2" and you can see behind the pad, is this normal its almost like the rubber stand off is too long from HD on the backrest pad. I have tried adjusting the three brackets holding it to the tour pak but no adjustments have made any difference. The backrest pad did not come with any instructions for adjustments but is pretty self explanatory on how to install it. As this is my first tourpak this maybe normal but I do not recall seeing this much of a gap on other tourpaks I have seen. Has anyone else had this happen or know of a way to adjust this so its a little tighter to the pak.

There is a slight gap under the back of the pad and yes it can be wiggled. I can see under the back of the pad on mine and see the little rubber pieces of protectant tape.

The gap on the back center seems to be ok but there is a large gap on the sides where the pad wraps around that is my concern.

Mine has maybe 3/8 of an inch on each side. The center fits pretty snug.

My Neighbors 08 ultra has a little gap in the middle but no gap and each side, it makes me think that HD made this backrest pad with the brakets two long because tha gap is more than a 1/2" on each side and it would allow a fair amount of rain or water into the backrest arm area.

Just put mine on this weekend too and it's the same way. I think the idea is to keep the backrest from rubbing on the King tourpack and marrign the paint incase you swap to a different back pad. That's all I can figure.
