Default Just put down payment on 2000 ultra

Hi!
I just put a down payment on a 2000 ultra. Trading in my '06 XL883C....
Seems to be completely stock around 44K miles.
anyone have anything good or bad to say about this year/model?
I'm not locked into the deal yet but unless someone talks me out of it, I'm goin' for it!
I took it for a ride and i like it (wow, what a different ride than the sporty!)

Just make sure the cam bearings have been changed, 99 to early 2000 had problems with cam bearings, and the cam chain tesioners have been checked/replaced.

Congrarts on the bike. If you got a good deal and like the bike stick with it.

Cam bearings and tensioners are only thing to check on. Other than that, ride and enjoy. Welcome to the club.

I've got a 00 RK and been riding it for 9 yrs with no problem!!! But I would try and get a 06 or better due to the up grade in motor (96ci) and tranny (6spd). Congrats!!

Still riding my 2000 Road King, and you can't go wrong, especially if you got a good deal. Cam chain tensioners and bearings were known to go south, but it should have happened long before 44K. They've likely been replaced years ago. Good Luck

I'm ridin a 2000 Classic. Bought it brand new and haven't had one bit of trouble. Like the others say, make sure the cam chain tensioners are ok. I replaced mine around 40,000 miles.

About the cam bearings, my bike was born after the cam bearing problem. See if you can get the "birthdate" of your new adopted baby. Might just be a none issue for you.

Have fun man, you'll love a bigger bike. I did the same thing. Went from a 1985 Sporty to the Dresser. Best move I ever did.

See ya

It would have to be one heck of a deal for me to trade in a 3 year old bike, even if it was a little Sporty, for one that is 6 years older at 9 years old and with 44K miles already on it.
