Default What brand of tire for touring bike ?

What brand of tire is the best all around tire for a touring bike? I am due for some new tires and looking for some advice. I read the stock Dunlop tires are junk and then you have Metzler and Avon and who knows what else .
I live the NW where it rains every once and while but I also want a tire that will stick in the twisties in both dry and wet conditons . I mainly ride solo and a lot of my riding is touring back roads and mountain passes .What would be my best choice?

Stock Dunlop's for me...no mix and match if you need one along your travels at another dealer, and I find them about the stickiest out there at least in the Northeast roads...but mostly for the no mix and match if needing a tire in my travels.

I live in western Montana and I put on a set of Dunlop Elite 3's, would not go back to stock, friend around here are saying they are getting 12 to 14 thousand miles out of them. when i put on the E3's I thought i was on a totally different bike.

The Dunlop Elite 3's are going to be my next choice of tires. Here's a good thread to check out on the Elite 3's.

After reading that thread and seeing the pattern on the E3's i'm sticking to the oem's, but going with www for my new chrome wheels. Tires expand when hot and man they get extremely hot at highway speeds. Not worth the risk of them making any contact. Besides that, the mfgs are the experts, if they say they wont fit they wont fit.

Cool

Stock Dunlop,

I just had mine replaced on Tuesday.
I live on a Dirt Road and ride in the rain and everyone in ERIE County, PA says the best tire for riding on dirt roads and all around road conditions is the stock tire...

I have been happy.

No sense in fixing something that isn't broke
