Default Options for lowering 09 Streetglide?

Have an 09 black ice - blue ice streetglide, All stock , I have put on the HD reach seat. The seat has helped but with a 28" inseam its not enough! Considering the FBI's new 3" drop kit but hate to spend that much money! What are my other options? Thnx

you can probably get your rear shocks cut down another 1/2" to 1" by bitchin baggers.

Try raising from the ground up. A good pair of thick soled riding boots will go a long way towards helping you reach the ground. I wear Chippewa Logger style boots with thick sole and a high heel. Your SG is already 1" lower than other touring models. Lowering it more could be asking for trouble.

Yeah, if you lower it even further (it's already about an inch lower than the other touring bikes) then you lose corning clearance, which may or may not be an issue for you. That FBI kit seems interesting but it's expensive. You might consider changing over to the electronic air controlled rear shocks. I'm not sure of the brand but there was an article in the latest issue of Hot Bike Bagger. It comes with it's own compressor and I think you can adjust the ride height on the fly. That way you can keep in low at stops and raise it up on the freeway. Might be expensive, but it if improves your riding experience, then it's worth it. For me, the Reachseat with my Motorcycle boots is enough for me to be comfortable.

Have you check out C & C Seats yet?

www.ccseats.com

They are lower than Reach Seat. They sit about 1" further back from stock but you can order one built forward 1 to 2".

I put the reach seat on my 09 and put the lowering kit on as well. I have the kit set to only lower 1" I talked to the manufacture and he told me not to go lower if riding 2up. The 1" worked perfect for me and as for as cornering clearance I just got back from 600 mile circle through Arkansas and I didn't notice any kind of clearance issues. Coming from a sport bike I can tell you I pushed it hard I am satisfied with what I have done.
