Oil cooler

I live in Texas and all of the police H-D's have them and talking to a Harley mechanic buddy of mine he strongly recommends them especially living in the south. I have to agree with Greg in that heat is probably the worst thing any engine has to deal with and can be damaging. I have a larger one that mounts on the frame that mounts on the front side of the bike with a thermastat. I don't like the smaller ones that are mounted down low in the front. Thats my humble 2 cents on this topic. I own an 07 FLHTC.

For those of you posting engine temps, how are you measuring this? IR gun? Oil dip stick gauge? The dash gauge on my '09 Ultra, i'm told, only measures the ambient air temp around the engine by the thigh and not the actual engine temp. Like I should care more about my leg comfort than warping my cylinder heads and seizing the engine.

i got a jagg on my sporty, worth every penny spent.
those of you who think 20 degrees isn't that much think of this, max temps for synthetic oil are 280 before it starts breakin down...it only takes 20-40 degrees above that before the eingine oil as around a 10% viscosity rate....i'll take that 20 any day
