Default missing stereo

I just bought my first Harley Today, 2006 Electra Glide Ex Police. It is missing a radio but has the spot in the bat wing for one. What do I need to install a full stero. I dont want to buy a factory one because they are way too expensive, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

If you just want to put an aftermarket head unit in, then you'll need:

Head unit
Mounting kit (to properly mount the aftermarket head unit)
Wiring harness adaptor

There are vendors that have all of this in one easy to buy package, but some are pretty expensive in my opinion.

I went piece by piece and bought everything separately. I have a Pioneer head unit & XM tuner from ebay, mounting kit from Hawg Wired (DK470) and amp/speakers & hand control wiring harness from FireCap501 here on the forums.
You should be able to get an aftermarket HU, mounting kit & wiring harness interface all for about the same price as a used HD stock radio.

I have seen several new style H-D radios sell on Ebay for less than 1/2 the cost of a new one from a dealer.----- Just a thought for ya.

most police bikes don't have the finger controls for radio, there is some place that has a package but it costs alot, might want to just use a head unit and speakers no special harness needed.
