Thumbs up Cee Bailleys SERG on Stock RG

After talking with Joe at Cee Baileys I decided to try the SERG shield on my 08 RG. (I had a 15" euro that came with some blemishes that I sent back.) Joe informed me they had been doing some testing on the serg with stock rg's. Now I liked the euro but it appeared to me the serg would offer better protection for traveling, it does stand up taller like a stock shield but still has the curves of a euro with a little more flip at the top. I am 6'1" tall 33" inseam,I tend to sit tall in the saddle I use a stock 08 seat and have FLHX shocks on the rear so it does sit lower in the back. One Big point I should make is you will need HD gasket #57660-09 to mount the shield (about $30 from your dealer) and the serg comes with CB new bolts and washers for RG's.

Side note: I think this set up with the gasket and cb bolts will work with other shields.

I ordered the 14" SERG light smoke (personal preference for the times I may have to look through it I want to be able to and I always seem to be out in the dark). It took about a week from California to Ohio (not bad). Mounting the shield was simple and using the gasket and new bolts and washers made the seal to the front fairing solid and secure I am really impressed with this setup, no more problems with the silly rubber weather strip. The 14' measure 11 5/8" from the hd symbol on top of the speedo/tach. My stock was 12 1/4. It looks great!
First ride I was only able to do 30mi and it was in 20-25mph got on expressway and at suggested 65mph it was a good performer very solid the shield held its own and did not shake or wobble like my stock did. When I got over the suggested posted 65 it continued to be a great performer never once did I have turn up the radio even with the strong winds.
Next ride weather a lot calmer and the shield still continued to impress. At a modest 65-80mph wind was just above my glasses hitting the front of my half helmet. Buffeting very modest compared to stock and again no changes needed in radio volume.
Overall the shield is very impressive as far as performance, actually the best compared to others I have tried from different company's (including one from cb).
Because of my height I am right at the in between of a 14" and 15" so I am going to also try a 15" to compare the two especially for when the wife rides with me I want her to be comfortable too otherwise nobody will be happy.
The Cee Baileys SERG is Defiantly the shield for me 14" or 15" I am done shopping either way.

So I am 6'3" and it says I need the 15 inch. I really want to keep it as short as possible. Does the cee bailey's throw enuf wind over you because of the curved top portion? If so then I should be able to go a bit shorter and still keep the wind off of my ears...

Also how do these shields effect the stereo system. I can't hear my stereo now with a 10 inch shield on the free way. I am hoping to improve that as well.

I am 6'1" but tall upper body. I am guessing 15" would be fine. The shield has more angle back than stock. I did not want a taller shield either and this one is exactly what I was looking for. I did not need to adjust the volume at any speed the air is fantastic!
Good Luck

Just talked to them today and they said they will have a new "conversion kit" out in a few weeks to make sure SERG mounts properly to the RG and it's going to be $40-$50 extra. These are pretty pricey to begin with.

Interesting. I didn't get the guy's name I was talking to there, but I asked him about the gasket from the SERG and he said no, there was a conversion kit coming out.

I'll look for your review, because this looks like a much better option than the Euro. The euro 16" I have is much noiser than the stock one. Looks like the SERG version sits more upright and the side cut/flares start higher up on the windshield. Both should help reduce noise.

Conversion kit will include the gasket and their redesigned well nuts. Joe said they ordered around 300 gaskets from HD and that is the hold up. The well nuts are made by a manufacture for Cee Bailey specs.
