Default Digital Dip Stick/Oil Temp.

This is for those that have the digital dip stick/temp. gauge. I know there a lot of people here that hate 'em, & probably with good cause. However, I have one, & while it hasen't been trouble free it's pretty handy.

I just finished takin' it apart for the second time. After a while the oil that gets pushed up in it will reach the window. You can still read the temp. & oil level, but it's a little dark. The first time I took it apart I simply cleaned it. This time it wasn't workin' at all so I cleaned it & replaced the battery. It's the same battery as the alarm fobs use (at least Harley is consistent).

All that's needed for repairs is a small phillips screwdriver & either the smallest torx you ever saw or a straight slot jewelers screwdriver. I use the latter. No water on the electronics, but soap & water will remove the oil from the cap once you have the electronics & display out.

They're a little more accurate than the fairing mounted gauge, & push button oil level is worth the effort. YMMV........

Nice to see that people are happy with it. Was considering it but read lots of bad things about it. Compared to stock dipstick, do you find it accurate measuring oil level?

YES. The "stick" part itself is no different from the stocker. P.S. I happen to have an extra used one for sale

You will be perfectly OK without one. I personally want to keep tabs of engine oil temps.

YES. Unless you want to have to screw your dip stick out to check your oil.

Pulled mine off the bike and went back to stock. The Oil kept reading "High" when it wasn't and I don't trust the temperature readings either. It's not too hard to pull the dipstick every so often.
