Default 09 Street Glide Rear Fender Question

I'm looking to get one of the curved license plate holder. Could someone that has had their rear fender apart tell me how the stock license plate holder is attached? Took my tag off today and the plate holder seems to be either attached to the light "bar" or attached underneath the light "bar". I do see 2 nuts up inside the fender that probably hold the lighting "bar" on but don't see any for the plate holder. Thanks

The plate holder is attached under the light bar on the FLHX

Default Lic. Plate Bolts

Not sure on the 2009, but on the 2008 they are up under the fender light bar.

Thanks dawg. Once the light bar is loose and you are able to get to the back of it, is unattaching the plate holder just a matter of taking a couple of screws out or a couple of nuts off or is it "built" into the light bar and might need to be dremeled off or removed in some other way? Would removing the holder in any way interfere with the light bar being reattached?

All you have to do is reach up in the fender and remove the 2 nuts holding the light bar, pop open the rear brake light and un plug the turn signals and you can remove the whole system bar and plate holder. Remove the 2 bolts holding the factory tag mount to the light bar and bolt up your new one and reinstall everything. You can do this without unhooking the turn signals but it is much easier and you will be less likely to scratch your rear fender. Carefully remove the light bar and don't let it scratch the fender.
