Radios, 04 RG.
Hey,
I have been reading ALL the posts about radios. Learned a lot but... still have couple questions. I know I have decided to go with a biketronics kit. My question is... how water proof are the radios with these flip front face plates? Do you need to go with the marine radio from sony? I already upgraded the speakers and it didn't help much. I like the part about downloading tunes into the face-plate of the Sony MEX 1gp. Can you get it in Marine grade? Any help would be greatly appreciated before making the leap!
Thanks, Catcher

You should call and ask Mike (?), Biketronics' owner. My personal experience with a non-marine Sony headunit for 3+ years and many downpours with the bike parked and the headunit unprotected is the non-marine units work very well.
The "marine" units offered that are DIN size aren't true Marine units IMO, because the only difference with a non-marine unit is a coated circuit board.
If you want to see a real "marine" headunit, go to Crutchfield.com and you will see several with rubber protected faceplate switches, etc.; but we can't use them in our HD's because they are too tall for the radio/headunit opening in the inner fairing.
Good luck with your search.
