Unhappy Chrome Cleaning

Call me STUPID! I had a water spot on my rear exhaust pipe, where ti comes out of the cylinder. Now, I use microfiber towels, so I attempted to wipe the spot off. The problem was the bike had been running for a while and I ended up with part of the fibers stuck to the pine. Does anyone have an idea of how to clean these the pipe?

You can also use oven cleaner. Shield any paint.

This will work, let it cool and get some of the plastic headlight cleaner, not the polish, that stuff is about 4,000 grit or more. I used it on a set of chrome 9 spoke wheels and you would not believe how it makes them shine.

I found oven cleaner and 0000 steel wool to be the two best options. Bought some used pipes and they had some kind of plastic bag stuck top them. The steel wool made short work of that. Oil blew out of the air cleaner and burned to the pipes on a 1000 mile trip. Did the oven cleaner thing when I got home and it worked wonders too. Just remember to spray the oven cleaner on a rag away from the bike and then wipe pipes. That stuff will eat paint, powder coating, you name it.

Use 0000 steel wool, not 000.

Never considered using this, but sounds like a good idea. Do you have to heat pipes first and use "hot" oven cleaner or do you use the cold oven cleaner?
