Default 09 Road King

Question......If I only put on mufflers on a California King then what kind of sound will I get? Is there anyone out there that has done this and regreted it? Should I go with the whole exhaust system? I dont want to be ripping things out of the head pipes unless it is really easy? Thanks...

There is nothing wrong going just slip ons. Also no reflashing necessary unless to you the intake also. I am going with the SE Touring 50 State Legal ones with the epa stamp.

The sound yeild good but not abnoxious.

I have an european RKC 2009, european bikes and CA models are the same, they have a Catalyst on the head pipes so if you change mufflers you have to buy something that sounds a little louder than Street legal muffler. Street legal sound ok with no cat on the headers but with the cat you should choose something like rush or kerker but with a mikuni core. the new 2009 headers with cat needs loudder mufflers in order to get a good sound (not too loud) I think SE street legal mufflers with 09 CA or european models (vin 5hd) are a waste of money.

I have kerker and they sound ok but only when you hit full throttle. At idle they sound like stock. Kereker use to be the old SEII discontinued mufflers and they sound like SE street legal on a 2009, so street legal mufflers will sound like stock. Im going to change kerker regular core for a mikuni core in order to get a nice rummble at idle.

Btw I have changed A/C and tunned the bike with pro tuner. the bike runs great!

I have Rush slip ons with 1.75 baffles. They sound good at an idle, and real good when you jump on it. They are still much quieter than lots of others. I realize that, when I get around some friends. But I could always get 2.25 baffles which I may try at some point. But for now I'm happy with them.
