Backrest Questions / Opinion Needed
Im thinkingof adding a backrest to my 09 SG, for those of you who have them what is your opinion of the following:
HD 52546-09 adjustable (where do you mount the cable / adjuster?)
HD 51631-09a
Mustang 79067
Do any of these push you forward? Id like to maintain the stock riding position. Im also not concerned with passenger room since my wife doesnt ride with me. Do you really use the adjustments that much while riding, enough to make it worth $60 more (between the 2 HD models)?

Get the adjustable! It's worth it to be able to change the positions on longer rides. The non-adjust might not be comfy.
It took me a few rides with my backrest to get used to it being there. It doesn't move me forward unless I adjust it all the way to the front. But since your seating position changes during a ride, and also changes due the clothing / jacket your wearing..................

I bought the adjustable and found that I put it in the furthest back position, and the lowest height level, and then just leave it there. I'm 6' tall, stock seat, bars, and have a 32" inseam. I'm also on a RoadGlide, not a Street Glide. If I knew then what I know now, I'd have bought the non-adjustable and saved some $$.

I have the adjustable on my 08 SG and love it. The cable pull mounts left side frame right about where the tank and seat meet. If you have mid-frame air defelctors you won't even be able to see it.
I find the adjustability nice especially when changing riding gear- heavy leather jacket vs t-shirt. It's also nice to change it up a bit on longer rides.

Do they still leave you enough room that you can sit without using the rest if you choose? Do you guys use them only for trips, or everyday riding too? I do ride to work when I can in the summer and make other short (~20mile) trips and being lazy probably wouldnt want to take it off all the time.
Also, does the backrest help out with back soreness? I have a bulging disk in my lower back so I have to be careful, sometimes it gets sore from sitting to long.
