I never take mine out, but they are removeable without tools. Depending on the seat, they are not always the easiest to line back up. With the Sundowner Seat it is much easier to install than with the stock seat on the Ultra.

Bought mine about a month after getting the bike. Only time it comes off is wash time or when the seat needs to come off. with ruptured disc in L4 and L5 of lower back it is a necessity in my case and the adjustable height and lean make it nice on most any ride for me as you never know when that wonderful little never goes away pain might need a different position.
Love mine!

I've always thought backrests looked ugly on a bike, but I got one with my 09 Ultra since i had heard so many people talk about how comfortable they were. I got the non-adjustable and now I think backrests are beautiful! It makes riding much more comfortable. Once I got it set where I wanted it, I haven't moved it. I think the adjustable one might be nice on a long trip.

Got the Mustang on mine. I like the smaller size and I think it looks better. I tried the HD backrest, just didn't work for me.

The adjustable is the only way to go IMO. I started with the non-adjustable and it was less than a week before I had it on ebay. I leave it on all the time.

It took me a few rides with my backrest to get used to it being there. It doesn't move me forward unless I adjust it all the way to the front. But since your seating position changes during a ride, and also changes due the clothing / jacket your wearing..................

Adjustable

Major Plus One. Go adjustable, and yes it's worth it.

I find the adjustability nice especially when changing riding gear- heavy leather jacket vs t-shirt. It's also nice to change it up a bit on longer rides.
Damn, EZ48, you joined in Oct 2008 and have a post count over 10,000? Do you ever have time to ride?

I bought the non adjustable from harley I only use it when going on long rides. It is great for me because I found my self not sitting correctly on long trips and my lower back hurting for days. Now I can ride 400-600 miles a day and feel fine....not worth the extra money at least for me.Alot of guys I spoke to locally before I bought mine they all said to get the non adjustable.
