Red face I need help w/ fob, bike won't recognize.

Just got a 2006 Road King w/ security. Everything has been fine ,but now bike won't recognize fob. I put brandnew battery in fob. Mine has a button on it and it will respond to button ( arm security) , but it will not recognize fob and let me start bike or move it w/out sounding alarm. Have bike night tonight , desperately need to have it fixed, don't know that much about the security got bike about a week ago and no manual as of yet. Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Rkfb,

If your system is the same as those fitted on European models, two presses on the fob button will disarm the security. You should get one beep & flash of turn signals following the two presses.

Interesting thread, don't mean to hijack but can you give details on how to start the bike with a code, and for that matter set the code?

My brother has an 06 Ultra and had a similar issue a couple days ago and called me, since I have an 09 I have a different FOB... I also have an owners manual but he does not.

Thanks!

the personal identification number can be programed with the instructions in the owners manual in case of the fob failing there is a 15 step process starting on page 121 of my 08s manual on how to set it by using the turn signal switch then there is a 13 set to turn if off in case of the fob failure on page 125 I cannot scan the pages in but the dealer should be able to give you the details if you don't have the owners manual or maybe someone else can scan them in for you

That sounds the same as my 09... I figured since my FOB is proximity and his has a button that the set up on an 06 was different, am I wrong?

system should be the same as my 02.

After replacing the battery, stand next to the motorcycle and press and hold the fob button for 10-15 seconds until the security system responds with 2 turn signal flashes/siren chirps.

System will now be reset for you to use.
