Default Harley 2008-2009 Touring Front Floating Rotors

Hey guys,

I found these rotors for sale on Ebay, 08-09 floating rotors, the picture shows the stock rotors. Are the stock rotors that come with the Brembo brakes considered "floating"?

I would call them semi-floating.... They have 1 point that they float. Not sure exactly how they work....

from what i understand, a true floating rotor is attatched to the center hub with large rivets, which allow the disc to self center between the pads, anything that's one piece is not a floating rotor. the center hub for the floating rotor bolts to the wheel itself, and the ring for braking is riveted to the outside of that bolt on hub. hope this makes sense. in my head it works, anyway.

the 09 discs have 1 rivet.

The reason floating rotors are better is that as the rotor heats up the rivets allow the rotor to expand diametrically.

That doesn't look like a true floating disk... As i was told that all "spokes" if you want to call them that should be on a floating bushing or rivet...

I agree guys, if anything a semi-floating rotor, but I think that is a stretch too.
My understanding is, Harley added the rivet and spring to reduce noise.
