How long to tune bike with PC111

RE: How long to tune bike with PC111
There is no real set answer for this. Some will say it shouldn't take longer than a couple of hours if the tuner is competent. I agree that it could be done this quick at times and I also think some people that rave about their quick and competent tuners are not getting the best tune for their bike.....(ignorance is bliss).
My GSXR 1000, that has a lot of work done to it, spent all day on the machine (about 10 hours). We were content after about 4-5 hours but we fine tuned the hell out of it in the next five hours.
But there are a lot of factors. You can't just do run after run and leave it idleing while you're making adjustments. You have to have cooldown time and so on.
Basically you are at the mercy of the tuner and you're just going to have to trust what he tells you, so do some research on the tuners in your area and go with who you feel most confident in and consider it money well spent. But just realize your gonna have to pay what they think their time/skills are worth and just be happy with it and don't try to compare it to what people 1000 miles away said about their super-badass tuner did.

Alright, I've been reading about these PCIII and was considering buying thinking it is a plug and play component. Just install, download the right map based on equipment, then upload to the PCIII. Done. WRONG apperently. What is "Hours of fine tuning?" Can I do it myself? I dable in wrenching w/ service manual in hand. If the PCIII is going to be cost effective, having a Tech do the job is definately defeating the purpose.

Reef, personally, I think the dyno time cost, far outweighs the performance factor of not having it done. Not sure what bike you ride, but if its a newer EFI bike, pony up and get a good tune done. Every bike seems to be different and I would not feel 100% confident that my bike was running the way it should without a dyno. Just my dimes worth.
