Default Trading a FLHRC HELP!

I'm having thoughts of trading my 08 RK Classic with a little less than 3000 miles for an 04 Electra Glide Classic. This would get me out from under my note on the RK and still keep me on a Harley. I had always planned on trading one day for an Electra Glide but I need some unclouded judgement. The dealer where I purchased the bike will trade even if i pay sales taxes. What do you think?

not a good move...trading down 4 years for a bile that is 2000 more then yours new? i was going to trade my 08 and the dealer was giving me 16,500 for it. and mine has 14,600 miles on it...but i decided i didnt want to get rid of it...its my 2nd road king, and i thought i was ready for a full bagger. but after looking at the bike with all that fairing and stuff, i couldnt do it...i would try another dealer...unless u owe 20,000 on your bike or something. but if u flip the note on a 2004 egc...u will be in bigger trouble if u find out u dont want it...jmo.

It is not an even trade if the dealer is going to take over or pay off your note. Depends on how much your note is, as to if it is a good deal or not. In other words, it sounds like the dealer will take your 08 RK and trade you an 04 EG plus, in effect, give you the money to pay off your note. If that is correct there should not be any sales tax.

What do I think? You need to clarify the specifics of the proposed deal in order to get an opinion.

I agree with Testifier...Your 08 FLHRC retails for $16,800 and a trade in value of around $12,600 while an 04 FLHTC retails for $13,800 and you will be dropping down from a 96 to an 88. I guess it depends on how upside down you are on the current bike and what the dealer is asking for the EGC.

Sounds like you might be better off to sell the RK outright and then go buy the EG if that is what you want.
