Elegant solution--never seen it before. I may give it a try. Looks like you went about an inch plus into the pipe upstream of the muffler. And no challenges with backpressure? I'm wondering if it will freak out my ECM when closed. I probably wouldn't keep it closed all the time. Thanks again

Any suggestions?
I run a set of SE slip ons, they are pretty easy on the ears and and nice and kinda quite at cruising speeds. I'd like to change to a set of Monster ovals or or oval slip ons to match my dresser duals. If you really want to change let me know maybe we can work out a deal to swap plus $ from me.

Rodeo will argue against it, but I wonder if the Monster Ovals would be a good compromise for you? Not as loud or raspy as the Oval Slip-Ons, but still more sound than stock.

The SE Street Performance Mufflers (64985) are excellent as well - a little quieter than the Monster Ovals, but still more sound than stock.

BTW Rodeo - I suspected we were kindred spirits all along - one of my early bikes was a 305 Scrambler as well! What great memories that picture brings!

Supertrapp SE are the best bang for the buck. These slip ons are only 3db louder than stock and in a test in American Iron they outperformed nearly every other set of slip ons. I think there was one set that had like .1 more peak HP but had less torque. These slip ons perform and give you that deep tone that is just a little more than stock.

I actually did it to give me some more back pressure.
