Question Updated Detachable Tour Rak Bracket

I while back I read on the forum that there was a problem with the detachable tour rak bracket not fitting good for the 09 bikes.Well I was told that HD did a update on the bracket. They were suppose to start shipping the new ones out today 4/15 . I have my 09 Road Glide getting a detachable bracket at the dealer getting some goodies put on it. Just wondering if any one out there had a old version and are getting the new version. What was the improvement or changes.

I have one that is problematic. Takes brute force to get on and off. Thought it was me but then read that others had the same problem. Not enough for me to spend money but if there was a recall I would take it. Only use the tour pack once in a while and I am hoping it will get easier with time.

I had the problem, then some folks on this forum advised me to loosen the bushings, install the rack and then retighten the bushings. That worked great and no more problems. It doesn't look like it, but there is probably 1/8 inch of play between the two bushings on each side of the braket to get the adjustment right.

Now I wouldn't mind a new bracket that doesn't have the extended plastic bushing on the forward metal bushing. I'm finding that if you aren't careful opening your saddle back, it can hit that forward bushing and scratch the saddle bag lid. What is that for anyway, a passenger backrest?

It is for the tour pak. The HD dealer told me that they are releasing it 4/17. Lets see how long it take for me to get one. I would call HD to see if they are doing somekind of recall on the other tour pak brackets. It would not hurt to make the call.

Angry New release date for tour pak bracket

Well I was in the dealer the other day and they told me the new release date is April 28. So I decided to call the HD Moto myself. They told me the date is May 15.And the old part number is 53276-09. The new part number with with an "A" at the end. I sure hope they get before the riding season end. Wonder what was the real release date or were they just blowing smoke up my A**. If they are I need to go to the doc for a check up!!!!

Those brackets seemed to have sizes all over the place from what different people have told me, glad to see harley is doing something about it. I like the way the new system is made, just has to get the QC up from the Chinamen
