Default extended warranty or not

I have a 2008 FLHX with 9500 miles currently. I put about 11,000 miles a year. It will be one year old July, 3. It's paid off and I am considering getting the extended warranty. The additional 5 years comes to 1644.00. An additional tire and wheel warranty is available for 300.00. Any thoughts?

I bought the extended warranty as part of my deal, mostly for the 'peace of mind' factor, since I do ride a lot and do a fair amount touring.

The extended warranty may cost some up-front, but for me, worth the sanity down the road.

If you put on that many miles each year then I would go for it. I have a 07 UC with 84K miles and it has already paid for itself with the work I needed done.

its an insurance policy. so do you have home insurance? do you have collision? do you have comprehensive? how about medical?

if somebody told you that the chance of your house burning down was so slim that insurance wasn't neccessasry, would you drop it.

just seems that i have always at least broke even with extended warranties.

I have 25,000 miles on my '07 currently and opted not to go with extended warranty....Either way it is a gamble and I am betting that all will be good plus I do all my service work and save all receipts.

Mine more than paid for itself around 2 months out of original/factory warranty period when they had to split my case to replace a bad crank/fly.

I'm a firm believer in insurance policies. Some aren't.

I was under the impression you have to buy it at the time you buy the bike. In other words, you cant add it on later. Is that correct?

if you have a existing warranty you can pay more at a later date and extend it for up to 7 years total
