I bought a HD oil filter wrench. It does not work on Amsoil oil filters.

I also use the Harley wrench. I figured better safe than sorry. Works great.

I am not being rude, but how is it difficult? you use a ratchet and extension. put it on the filter hold for half a second twist ratchet until it grips and remove the filter. Most filters you never even hold it to get it to grip. I am sorry, but you must be over thinking the operation of the wrench to make it difficult.

I use this. It will remove any stubborn filter. Great for all small filters.

Napa carries it.

Rubber strap wrench. Probably the cheapest thing in my toolbox...but it works.

Rubber strap wrench here as well as it was already in the toolbox. I get it loose then slip a ziplock bag over the filter as far as possible over the filter mount and catch the oil making a dripless change, which is far easier than any box, bottle or any other "drip tray" method.

Never thought of the zip lock bag, good idea. Thanks to all, just wanted to get ideas, like the jaw one, looks the best to me.

I'm gonna try the ziploc bag method, too. Thanks for that idea, modes.

It can't POSSIBLY be any messier than the ways I've already tried. There's an aftermarket drip tray that fits under the filter - really bad; I manufactured my own sheet metal drip tray, which was so far the best method but still dripped onto the engine mount; and aluminum foil, which provides LOTS of places for oil to hide and drip out in new and unexpected places.
