Thats about the same place that I put mine. Only I used the screw hole in the frame there and bolted it in place. Fits nice and tight and wont move.

Default Stebel behind saddle bag

I did that and it has worked great, nice and loud. You may be able to fit one on each side if you want.

Jeff,

Thanks for posting that, it was that very post I had in mind when I wrote! I think later bikes than mine must mount the saddlebags further away from the bike, as my Stebel won't go where you mounted yours.

Default Stebel Nautilus

I mounted mine on the engine guard, of my FLTR, left the OEM horn in place, and ran "jumper cables" to the attached compressor.
I bought my horn at the local auto-zone, and there was a relay, included in the package

(hopefully this link will work) (cool it DID!!)
Note the wrapped electric tape just above and to the right. I wrapped the relay to insure weather tight. and mounted the relay onto the frame

Well done, on both pic and horn! That's a good idea....

I mounted my compressor under the battery tray so it sits horizontal and ran a air line up to the cut off horn section that I mounted in the stock cow bell. I would have liked to have mounted it as instructions said, but I could not find a hidded way to do that. I thought the worst case was that it would not last and I tossed $40 out the door, buttwo years later and it still works . I like that you can not tell it's there until I push the horn button.

skootchnc: why didn't you mount the horn facing forward...seems like that would get more attention.

Just finished installing a new Stebel Nautilus air horn on my '06 RKC. Thanks to this thread, I was able to keep everything looking stock.

Once I separated the horn and compressor, I removed the old horn from the cowbell.

I placed the compressor behind the right side cover and ran a length of hose with wiring loom for protection to the horn that I installed inside the cowbell.

After wiring everything up with the relay that came with the horn, I installed a fuse as per directions.

Works great, and nearly invisible inside my stock horn cowbell. And yes, I think it might wake the dead!
