I bought an ‘05 1200 sportster in sept ’04, and traded it in on a ’05 RK classic in june of ’05. I’d say it’s not crazy at all. When I was talking to the dealer about waiting for the ’06 models, he told me that when they hit the floor, my trade in value would be about $1000 less. I’ve ridden my dad’s ’05 WG. It is comfortable for long rides. In fact, I was gonna buy one when I bought my king. When I started comparing standard options vs. price, I started looking at the king closer. I’m glad I did, because I like my road king a lot.

I love pimpin on my '06 RKCustom. The ride, the feel, the floor boards. The comfortable back rests I pick up, yes mine are removable... every time she gets off.

Its just a good fit that feels right... damn, now I gotta find a way to get out of work.

How dumb would it be to trade in an 06 DWG for a Road King? Yes, I've probably added about 3k worth of accessories to my Dyna. Don't get me wrong.. I love my Dyna but a part of me is really drooling over the RK's.

(No, I can't afford both, oh how I wish)
I see nothing wrong that that David. (Don't go to Chandler HD)

How long after you get the RK do you think you’ll want more storage and a radio?

I don't think its crazy at all, but why don't you test drive the different RK models to make sure you really like that model. I love my RKCustom's look, ride, and handling. Good luck on your decision.

How much money are you willing to lose in the transaction compared the comfort you'll have on the Road King? That should help you decide how dumb, or smart, the move will be. You'll take a hit on the accessories, but you may find a used Road King that would even out the depreciation you're going to realize on the DWG. I agree with earlier comment on trying out the Road King and other models first to make sure you're making the right move.

i bought SuperGlide in July of '05... after several trips i realized i needed more bike... especially if i'm packin' my g/f... i traded in the SuperGlide at the end of December and rode my ElectraGlide Classic home on January 3...

the only time i have buyers remorse is when i make the payment.... to get over it, i run out and jump on my EGC and all the world melts away.

trade in value during the first year of ownership sucks.

i say do it if it suits your riding style better.... makes the woman happy... and you can afford it.
