Default Need help with det tour pack rack? 53276-04

Hi, I got the rack home today and started to install and when I go to put it on my 07 streetglide it hits on the rear crome piece, I looked at my detachable back rest and it has the black locing mechanism on the out side where as this rack has them on the inside? Has anyone else had this problem? Should I just switch around the locking mech it says in the Instructions you made need to strech out the bottom but mine is atleast 1/2 - 3/4 " to small, sorry about the long post, Any help greatly apreciated, Todd

if i understand what you wrote correctly, the black locking mechanisms on your tourpak rack are on the inside of the rack. if you go to the hd site and pull up that stock number, you can clearly see the plastic locking mech are on the outside of the rack. same on my solo. i think it would be easy enough to switch it if it is backwards, but seems very odd that it would come that way from the dealer.

The black locking mechanism appears to be on the inside based on the picture I am looking at in the P&A catalog. The rack for the 09's has the black piece on the outside.

Default Tour pack rack.

thats the weird part on my det backrest the locking mech is on the outside, but on the rack there on the inside which hit the crome guard, I though I could switch it around but the studs that the screw goes into is welded on.

Default tour rack

No I have the 53276-04, acording to my local dealer the one in your picture is for an 09, I think I found out why it doesn't fit, I was told this would work with the detach docking station that I use for the backrest, and Now I find out I need another mounting kit 53011-98, figures more $.

yes a seperate quick connect setup is needed,,, i am in new jersey but buy strictly from m&m cycle in ohio ,,,mark is a knowledgable and professional guy to deal with,,,prices have been 10-20% lower than any HD dealer in my area,,,delivery is prompt and parts are always right and if any additional parts are needed to add something he will tell you upfront
