No real difference at all. I have the 2008 Vance & Hines oval slip-ons on my 2009 Street Glide and they fit perfect. Don't worry about it. You can go with either the 2008 or 2008 slip-ons. The dent on the side is the only difference V&H made, but again, you can use either one and you really can't tell between the two.

My brother actually has a set of ovals he took off his bike and he is selling them if you are interested. You can PM me if you like.

I can't answer your question, but I want to make a correction in you statement. In the case of the V&H 09 Monster Oval slipons, they not only fit the 09 but also earlier models as well.

I just looked it up on the V&H site and part #16757 is the 2009 oval slip-ons, so I know they have the slip-ons for 2009 touring bikes.

Hope this helps!

Yes. As I mentioned I did on mine because V&H didn't have the 2009 version out when I got my 09 SG, so I installed the 2008 oval slip-ons and they fit and worked perfectly.

Yes, the dents on the mufflers are slightly different, but I looked at my 2008 slip-ons vs. my brother's 2009 slip-ons and we couldn't really tell the difference.

I don't know, but I called V&H. They told me that part no. 16755 which is the 09 part number would fit on my 2006 bike. And they do!
