Thats just one of the many reason why I went from Suzuki to Harley. I don't want the nanny state telling me I need something like that.

I make sure I have the clutch pulled in prior to starting. Try without pulling the clutch in a couple fo times and you most likely will never do it again.

The 09 won't start in gear unless the clutch is pulled in. It has nothing to do with the jiffy stand.

Came off a metric, after many years, and discovered on day one that my 06 Ultra will start with the kickstand down and the clutch lever out...and in gear, at a gas station, with lots of folks looking. Always grab a hand full of clutch before hitting the switch.

My 03 FLHTPI had a clutch interlock, but not a side stand kill switch
When I went with the Magura hydraulic clutch I lost the interlock
I go back and forth between a rice rocket and the FHLTPI and I have managed not to kill myself when starting or stopping either bike
