I didn't ask for any smartass comments. I've ridden bikes all my life (over 40 years of in-saddle time) without fairings or windshields and have no problems with a clean, turbulence free wind flow. That's not the problem I'm having with my RG so if you have nothing constructive to add, please don't bother to post.

To those who know what I'm talking about, thanks for your helpful replies. I think I'm going to have to look seriously at a set of lowers. Tx.

I have on the removeable lowers currently ordered the HD lowers, I find they do help along with the clearview. Ultimately to me it really seems to depend on the wind direction. Good luck with parts!

I have HD oem lowers. I put them on thinking I'd use them in the spring and fall. Well, I never took them off. Even in the heat of summer I'd rather have them on!

remeber you may need to remove the air baffle between the forks to add some air flow in moderate temps.

I bought my lowers from these guys and even though they said it could be 6-8 weeks I had mine in 3. Of course it depends on the company that paintes them for harley (harley sublets their paint work) but their 20% off + free shipping + superior communications made it a great deal.

Good Luck, I have only put just over 200 miles on my RG and did read about the buffeting and experienced it some but once you find what works I'm sure you will be happy. I have NO REGRETS. And I have owned 2 Electra Glides and 2 Road Kings which were both excellent bikes too.

Good Luck!!!

Do you have a visor on you helmet? If it snaps on remove it and try that. Made a world of difference for me.

I can relate to the buffeting wind on a RG. The lowers will cure that. Ive read to remove the fork air baffle during warm weather, but last summer with the baffle removed the bike seemed hotter riding it, so I put it back on. I dont know what thats about. If you get some HD lowers and you dont want to buy the glove boxes that go with them, I make speaker pods that hold 6.5 speakers to fill the void. Good luck with your purchase.

Default Lowers

I have the HoggChopps on my 08 RG. They are great and are nearly 1/2 the cost of the oem lowers when you add in the glove box and covers -- even with the discounts available. Paint is great and matches exactly.

there are pics in the album on this website if you are interested.

Sounds like the HoggChops are a great alternative. At $600 for the HD lowers, plus another $320 for the glove boxes, saving some money with the HoggChops sounds very attractive especially since the comments indicate that they are of great quality and function well.

One could pay less at Chicago HD or Zanotti's.
