Default a new 09 touring model ?

I am thinking about buying a 09,have a few questions.Could you help me out please. 1 Is the ABS worth the price or is it that much more to go wrong with the bike? 2.Did anybody hear of any upgrades for 2010? 3.Any recalls on 09,s? I'm a little cautious on new change years after I bought a 06 Dyna. 4.What do you think is the best bang for the buck? Thanks Guys-Gary

09s are rock solid machines.
Definitely do buy ABS - Dont make a mistake on this one, GET IT!

Depending on what you like, 2010 may see some changes, read the threads about it all.

ABS will, someday, save your bacon! Spend the money now or wish you had later!

If you can work a good deal on an '09, go for it. If you're still on the fence in mid-July...wait til the 3rd Tuesday @ Noon ET and you can see the 2010 line-up on the web (that is when the line-up will be 'officially' unveiled to the Dealers).

I love my '09.

I bought ABS and I am still up in the air on it. It has activate a few time that I personally didnt feel it should have. If you are coming to a stop from any speed and you hit any type of bump it will activate and make you feel like you aren't in control. I know now that the trick is to not get nervous and stay on the brake but there was no slick surface of wetness so I wasn't in danger of lock up. Today it happened again and it was kind of my fault. I was a little distracted and the cars in front of me were stopping abruptly so I grabbed a hand full of brake and it started to slowdown and apparently the abs kicked in and I surged forward a bit and almost hit the car in front. Had I not had ABS I am not sure what would have happened but at least I would have known why it happened.

My bike does the same thing. Surges forward as ABS comes in:

Huge thread with lots of BS (yes, some of it was from me).

When it happens your eyes just get bigger. It really feels like you arent going to stop.

I am not sure if it is all HD ABS that does this or it is a calibration problem with certian bikes. I am yet to convince my dealer that there is a problem.

I agree, the '09 Touring bikes are rock solid and very comfortable. Mine handles very well on the road - a very solid feel to it. I have not heard of any complaints on them at all, which is unusual as I know this crowd here is not shy about raising he!! when they aren't happy with something.

ABS is up to you. Not a bad thing at all, go for it. I don't have it on my bike, but can tell you the Brembo brakes on this bike are excellent.

Each model year gets better. And thats all there is about that.
If your height impared you'll have to lower the 09 though. Larger tires, sits higher etc.
However it is claimed to have frame benifits.
And it is newer.
Just a thought.

I dont have ABS sometimes I wish I did, sometimes reading posts on here - glad I dont.
What are you gonna do?
Kind of like buying into gold. You got to get in some time or another - it goes up and down.
In the long run - it goes up.
Newer year, Im thinking it's a no brainer.
Unless you need to lower it and thats easy.
If not - your set.

I love my 09. I could not be happier. Seems everyone has mixed feeling on the abs. It will cause you too have a longer stopping distance, but will prevent a full lock-up panic stop. My wife did order my bike from the dealer to have abs, but it doesn't (dealer screw up), so I couldn't tell you first hand.

Absolutely not true (first part), but thats OK since you didn't buy it anyway.
