have been considering upgrading my stock 88 engine in my 2003 RKC ,,,,looking for info on the cost to go to 96 or higher,,, also how much more noticable power is there ???? we would be talking about a "dealer" conversion,,,tips?suggestions?
pay your local HD shop a visit and ask for a rough quote on parts & labor for the upgrade. My RKC already had a 95 kit installed when I bought it, very noticeable increase in power (SOTP only, no dyno charts on hand) compared to my old '02 RK.
While is costs more, you might want to consider a cam change instead as your first step. I had a set of Andrews 21g cams installed this January and it really woke up my 2001 Roadking. The Max. Torque increased from 80.03 to 92.26 and Max Power from 66.81 to 73.43 - PLUS I am forever rid of the cam chain tensioner problems. Next winter, I plan on finishing the build by going to the 95". This will be the exact engine buiild prescribed by Joe Minton. So far, I am VERY PLEASED with the results.
