Default Opinions on 2005 H-DŽ FLHPI from dealer

my local dealer has one that is a factory demo bike. anyone know how those are used? it has 10,000 miles on it. and they want $10,000. i read a post that said they had a recall on the brakes. i am wanting to upgrade from my sporty. any help would be great. thanks in advance.

Price seems okay, but with 10,000 miles on a demo, they're usually not treated like something you own... What year is the bike? See if they're willing to throw in an extended warranty at their cost and see how they react. Otherwise, if something goes wrong it will right after the standard warranty expires. Trust me how I know this (Murphy's Law)

I would be very wary of a rental, I've seen how they're abused at times.

they also have an 06 with 2,000 miles for 10K. i didn't know what these bikes were. are they rented out by the dealership? i did find another post in the search that was talking about the police models that were leased by police forces, but if they are "shop demo's" what does that mean?

I'd be asking the dealer exactly how and where the bikes were used and by who. Ask for service records and push for some kinda warranty. The 2006 sound like a better deal if the conditions of the bikes are the same. They ride like a reg road king just diffrent bags and some have a tack. most police bikes have there share of scratches and bruises. I heard they are run hard and put away wet. So, buyer beware. The police bikes that our local dealer has are maintained very well (records), I know a couple of the guys who work for the county and they treat their bikes like they are their own. This may not be the case everywhere. The prices you quoted are lower than the ones I see for sell in the Atlanta area. I wouldn't have any problems with a police version as we tend to change EVERYTHING anyway once we get started, as long as the basic bike/frame/wheels/brakes/etc. is in good shape. Ask some of the guys on here, you can buy a NEW bike and still change all the same stuff, you are just starting at 10K rather than 20K.

I own 2 ex police bikes an 06 Road King that I bought with 3000 miles on it.Bought extended warranty for it.Also bought an 07 that was never in service with only 600 miles on it,and it had a lot of SE stuff on it.Did I mention that I am very happy with my cop bikes, just love em..Just do your homework and as mentioned above try to get them to throw in the extended warranty. On the average I saved 8 grand on the purchase price on each bike..Did I mention that I am very happy with my cop bikes?
Good Luck

I ride a police bike at work. I wouldn't want to buy the one that I ride.

I'm like Capt. Itch, i have a FLHPi that i got with only 600 miles on it, and its been great for me. All the money i saved up front was quickly put into goodies and gadgets.
