I bought an 05 in 06 with 6k on on it from Bruce Rosmyers in FT Lauderdale for 11k.
Never had an issue.
As for the brake recall, its a recall on the brake lines going to the ABS. If remember correctly there was an issue with the lines chaffing and possible line failure due to rupturing.

I have an 05 Road king Police bike and I have had zero problems with! It runs and rides great! Like Capt. itch said The money I saved ($5000) I stuck right into the bike to make it my own! Good luck. Mark

The prices dont sound bad.The '06 may be a better choice with the lower miles.
If you dont plan on any motor upgrades, see if they will give you a break on the ex. warranty.
Some of the '05 touring (and maybe early '06)models had valve guide seal issues.

thanks for all the advise. the 06 is gone and the 05 is not here yet so i will have to put down a refundable deposit to reserve it. the closest thing they had to it was an 07 police, but that is different motor and 6 speed. how much difference? i loved theway it rode. they were hd demo bikes that were driven around the country to police stations for them to test drive before ordering their bikes. does that sound possible?? he said they were never used on duty and have "0" scratches like the other police bikes they have at the shop. so $10K for an 05 with 10K miles?? oh and two new tires.

I love my copglide. Tulsa PD had a good maintenance program I'm told. 2500 miles in a month since I traded my sporty on her and no issues yet. She's the best bike I've ever owned.

I have a 04' FLHPI and love it, The police dept. that had it turned it back into the dealer with only 652 miles on it. The dealership put 10K of Harley chrome on it including an exotic paint set, stage 1 kit,etc.. They had it on there floor for $26k and never sold it. The dealership then changed hands and the old owner sold all his used bikes on Craigslist where I luckily found it for $14k. I have put 8,000 trouble free miles on it and could not be happier.

i think the question was demo thoe are either a dealer demo or a harley demo the harley demos are carted around in a truck to events and anyone with a helment boots and liscence can take them for a spin , i have demoed a few bikes and when i do i beat the **** out of them but not everyone does.demoed serg and a seultra they were rarley below 40000 on the tack and clutch was used sparingly.the only way i would buy one is if it had a good warrenty and the motor was left stock as to not give them a out of the warrenty.

Depending on the price difference you might want to consider the 07. The 6 speed tranny is nice to have. I have an 02 FLHPI and love it.

i went by again and tagged an 07 for $10,900. with 3K miles on it. it will be in Friday or monday. why wouldn't it have the factory warranty with it? i still have a lot of questions to ask, but i at least wanted first shot at the bike. did any of you get a free factory warranty with your bike since it was owned by Harley and not another individual? they want to sell me a one year warranty for 900 bucks. what other questions do i need t ask besides seeing the service records?

I just picked up a 99 FLHPI with 15k on the clock about a month ago for $8k. I have had no problems at all. A new set of skins is all I have done. It runs like new! Yea its got a few cosmetic imperfections but overall a very nice bike for the $. I would say take bike the for a run and if you like it, then buy it. The price isnt bad in comparison to a new one. Warranty would be a good idea though, even if only 30 days. Good luck
