Sounds to me like what you really want is the 09 SG, so just make that happen. The changes are worth it and new phat-*** looks GREAT on the 09 SG. Whatever you decide, get ABS.

If it's between the SG or EGS ?
I decided to get the 09 standard, I liked the extra driving lights and saddlebag guards that wasn't on the SG. I bought the standard then added the aftermarket radio for $500, 8 inch clearview windshield with recurve $119. Added the passenger backrest and I'm happy. Got the guage upgrade for my Christmas.

Congratulations! I believe you are going to really like that motorcycle. I also wanted the driving lights and bag guards, plus the extra suspension travel the EG has over the SG.

I added the gauges and removable rack and back rest too. Then I added SE 50 state legal, Touring slip-ons for just that extra bit of sound. Recently I installed the new K&N airbox kit and a TTS. That along with 2,000 miles and it's running pretty nice.
