Have an 09 RK. You know the old saying, you have to pay to play. I ride my bike hard occasionally and have never gotten less than 36 mpg. You slow down and the miles go up. Have gotten 42-43 when I behave my self. Bike has a PC V with Rush slip ons and a Screaming Eagle intake system. And I weigh in at 279.

If I could get 45 MPG on my FLHT would go to Times Square in NYC and Dance to Dixie singing God Bless Robert E Lee...

After one MOD (converted stock exhaust to True Dueal) with stock pipes and K&N filter I was still getting 45-48 mpg thinking I was hurting the engine without any ECM re-mapping and still with the stock pipes so I got the thunder max with auto tune. the bike has nice torque and power at the lower rpm these MODs Hi-Flow slip ons, tru dual and Zippers hi-flow air cleaner the mpg has gone south. the best I get now on around the back roads ranging 45-55 mph I get 36. I am really considering putting the stock muffler back on but knowing what is will do with true dual I am hesitant.

Wow that is pretty interesting reading guys who complain about gas mileage. I never saw any vehicle that would get the EPA number on the sticker. If you get only 36 mpg you are getting twice as good as most cars I would drive.

My mileage went up from averaging around 39-40 MPG to between 42-44 range after changing from a PCIII to the TTS Mastertune. I also changed from Rush Slip on mufflers to the D&D Fatcat.

I've seen some variations in MPG due to Ethanol versus 100% gasoline. Ethanol suks.

The best I coax out of Ol Sally here is 37mpg with all stock stuff. After the mods(see sig) is 36 to 35mpg.
I don't hot rod. Shift at 3 grand. Cruise on the highway in 6th between 70 and 75 mph@ around 2500-2700 rpm. I won't "lug it" Stay mostly between 2500 and 3000. Ride solo. Around 240 lbs.(Many years of beers). So why no better on the gas mileage? Other than that she runs great. Any thing I should look for?
your not alone on this im at 38mpg at best, i can change my afr's to very lean and still can't get better and she get's very hot, so i take the hit on mpg to keep it cool. some people may be guessing what there mpg are and telling us false readings. the best way to calculate mpg is by filling the tank resetting the trip drive it for a while refill it and divide miles by gallons you just filled up with. for example miles divided by gallons= mpg how many are really taking the time to do that or are they just guessing. im sure some are but the higher mpg folks may be at a higher elevation.
