Default New FLTRSE Break-in

Just bought my first "new" bike... Been riding over 25 years, many bikes owned, but always used bikes.

Yesterday I bought the 2009 CVO Roadglide (Silver). What a machine! I'll post some pics later.

I've heard a couple different references as to how to properly break in this CVO 110 engine, but I wanted to hear from those of you here.

What's the correct speed/rpm break in recommendation..? Is the information in the owners manual correct or have others found more correct information.?

Thanks,

Matt

Never hurts to read the owners manual they didn't take the trouble to write it without wanting to kepe from doing warranty work.. My Suggestion is the 1st 500 Miles Avoid excessive starts and stops and not exceed 4000 RPM and Vary your speeds don't be afraid to take it up to 80 but vary from 60-80 MPH and the most critical some seem to miss give it a rest period every 50 miles or so ... Although hear a lot of this 1,000 Mile Service can also do it and 500 miles like I did and mine are running smooth as glass now breaking both my Bikes in that way the 04 Sporty and the 08 Electra as well... Enjoy your new ride..

Ya you'll get all kinds of opinions But I would recommend following the owner's
manual and common sense.
That's a awesome bike Good luck and enjoy
Most important thing is don't hold steady at 1 rpm range for long periods

Thanks all. Sounds like the owners manual is spot on.

Brought the bike home yesterday (in the rain...) and they're calling for rain all week...

Just chomping at the bit as they say. What is the saying about buying a bike when it's raining..? Good luck may be..?

My dealer tells everyone that buys a new HD from him "to ride it at break in like you plan on riding it after break in. If it's going to break you want to under warranty"

Would you rather be here in Chicago when it's cold raining and snowing? I'm sure it will be worth the wait. I'm a big fan of the orange one, either way it's still a sweet ride. Enjoy and ride safe!
