Default D&D Fatcat rusting "UPDATE"

Not really sure why this is happening or what I should do about it...I'm going to be calling D&D tomorrow to see what they say...what should I expect to hear from them? Are they usually pretty good about standing behind their products??? And it's not like it's rusting in one place, it's pretty much happening on the whole pipe, from the muffler on up...any ideas on why this might be happening?

D&D is a first class outfit. I went by there Friday because my cat was turning blue. They gave me new heat sheilds and can and were glad to help! Not many around like that anymore.

well I'll see what they say when I call...I just don't understand how it happened in the first place...I could see if it was just a small spot, but it's everything...I hope they can help me out...I've only had them on for about a year

Used to be a coatings inspector - rust like that implies improper preparation of the substrate prior to coating. In other words, the base metal had some type of contaminant(s) on it when they coated it, most likely moisture. Might have been too humid that day and they didn't wait till the humidity went down. Who knows, but they should replace since it's their fault.

This is not the first time I've heard of this happening with black pipes, not just D&D, they make great stuff. I don't think these guys use a powder coat type system to paint their pipes. The guys I know who have black pipes that keep a good finish have had them coated by someone like "Jet-Hot" or a type of ceramic coating, its kinda expensive but will look good for years. You would think that black pipes would have less upkeep than chrome but its not the case. gary

I was thinking the same thing about the black pipes being less upkeep...I got them cause I like the look but the upkeep factor played in there too...I just hope they give me some good news when I call them today!

So I called today and the "warranty guy" told me to take pics and send them to him, so we'll see what comes out of that...
