If you have the Andrews 54H cam
I am committed to this cam for my 08 SG. I'm going 103" with Weisco pistons and have their dealer do the boring of my cylinders. i did this a couple of years ago and had great success. I decided on the Andrews 54 H cam and ordered it today. If you have this cam I would like to know your impressions of this cam below 2200 rpm. I'm reffering to take off's. Do you have to ride the clutrch a little? How is it when you are just puttering around town. Basically I want to know what the driveability is.
Thanks,
Gary

Andrews 54H cam in a 107 motor
Here is my personal experience with this cam. I am running a 2009 Street Glide, 107 motor, flat top KB pistons, stock ported heads, stock size valves, D&D exhaust, TTS tunner. My dyno numbers on a fresh motor were 98HP and 106 TQ. I was a little disappointed at the dyno chart, till I spent some time ridding the bike.
This bike is great, pulls great everywhere. I have a friend making 108 HP and 106TQ and he can't beat me in a drag race and I leave him in the dust on a roll anywhere from 2000rpm to 3000rpm.
I am a big fan of this cam.
My suggestion is if you climate is not too hot go to a 107 motor vs a 103.
A 2 into1 exhaust is key, and keep the compression around 10:1.
This is not my first Harley build, but it is my favorite.
The other thing is the bike has no valve train noise.

I have this cam in an 07 Road King. Stock bore and heads, TTS mastertune, D&D Fatcat 2:1. My impression is I lost some bottom end, gained some mid-range, and the top end is the same as stock cams. I chose the cam for it's rep. as being quiet and to complement this winters project which will be ported heads and 107. I also have S.E. adjustable pushrods and Arlen Ness air filter. Can't wait to finish her off!

I have had this cam in my Dyna, and now in my 103 RGU.
It is a good cam in both bikes from 3000 RPM +.
On the lighter Dyna it was just fine, but a bit "flat" from 2000 - 3000 RPM. I removed it and went to a SE258 because while the 54H ran great, honestly it was a bit "boring" of a cam for a light FX bike.
On the wayyy heavier RGU, it is not the best cam choice, as 2000-3000 it is not overly strong, but then from 3000-5800 it pulls incredibly hard. Thus you end up with a lighter bike type powerband on a touring bike.
On the 3 bikes I have installed this cam on, all 3 were VERY noisy in regards to valvetrain noise, using stock pushrods. Be advised.
I just rode 800 miles 2-up this weekend on the RGU with the 54H, and it did fine, but it is very throttle hungry.
Honestly I believe an SE204 would be a better choice for my RGU, and I may change out the 54H later.

Since I started this thread back in March I have installed this cam along with BigBoyz heads,SERT tune, Bubs7 true dual. And a great tuner did the tuning. 96HP and 120TQ. 13,000 miles later and I could not be happier or ask for anything more. Just got back from doing 3,500 mile trip. I averaged 43.7 MPG riding two up and loaded to the hilt (what is a hilt?). Honestly, 6th gear at 55/60 MPH feels like 4th used to. I've lost nothing in performance. I have everything I had before the BB just a whole lot more of it.
I have an 09 SE Fat Bob for sale. If it doesn't go soon I'm going to put the 54H cams it to.

54 are cool
I did a GMR 107 with heads, 9:8 compression 54 cam D&D fat cat, and TTS tuner. Starts great hot, no pinging issues, pulls like a "deer"
IMO a really good cam for bagger hits hard early pulls longer than the 255's. No need for high compression, good on gas, good perfomance for a not so wild build. I hit 100 TQ at 2300 dyno'ed at 115TQ and 106 Hp.
Better motor than my old 95 with 204's

This term originates from the days when swords were widely used as personal weapons. The handle of a sword is known as the “hilt,” and if a sword is plunged all the way into something, or someone, the hilt is the only part which would protrude. Therefore, when something is said to be “to the hilt,” it means that it has gone as far as it can possibly go, with no more give or wiggle-room. Potentially, of course, if one was really determined, the hilt of a sword could be buried in a target as well, but then the sword would be difficult to retrieve, so this would be somewhat unusual.

is this a stoke bore 96? and how wicked is the idel? what rpm does the tq come in? i been looking at the woods 555 cams but they are made by andrews for woods and i just thought andrews should make a cam pretty close and the 54 looks close.for alot less money i might add..lol. im just looking for feed back.
Well the CVO fat bob didn't sell and true to my word I just installed the 54's in it. That project isn't quite finished. Obviously I'm liking the 54 cams. But I know the Woods 555 is coming on strong.
