Default rear sprocket temperature

How warm should the rear sprocket get assuming proper belt tension?
Checked my belt tension using the Harley tool and did the 45 degree twist as well and tension is within specs. Had the Harley tech also check the tension as well as alignment, and he thought it was fine. However, after a few hours on the freeway, the rear sprocket is hot enough that placing my hand on it for more than 5-10 seconds is uncomfortable. Is this normal? Am I missimg something here. Both belt and sprocket show no signs of wear or damage. Bike is a 08 RK with 11K and handles great without any discernable problems.

It gets a little warm, you have a belt traveling over it at a high rate of speed and bearings spinning even faster.

If you know somebody that has an infrared temp gun, ask them to check the temp for you.

Your Ok that is normal, the pulley will also expand with the heat making the drive belt tighter. Tim
