Default 360* Brake?

Anyone use it? I like the way it cleans the front end up!!! If they would have been out when I got the wheels for my VRod I would have done it.

Call Paul Yaffe, that's his bike in your thread. I read that the original ones didn't work well because they where to small but they have a newer larger model out now.

I really like the looks of the 360 brake setup. What's not to like? You can't see them, all you can see is wheel. But what I'd really like to see is an objective, thorough review on PERFORMANCE!!. I'm very familiar with the spool hub rides of the 60's-70's, and even into the 80's on some choppers. And basically, just to look at them, that's what they look like. GREAT LOOK, but pretty freakin' scarry... The spool hubs I mean, so I'd like to see some good review on them. Hard to imagine that small a setup could provide really good braking, but I'm certainly open to a new concept.

I would think it would work well. It's clamping on the whole 6" round rotor inside at one time instead of a small piece of the stock rotor the our normal brakes grab.I'm going to check into it some more and when I do the front wheel swap I'll see what I go with !!! Will not be PM's I can tell you that!

Yeah it shows the wheel great! But ain't we talkin' drum brake vs disc? Didn't everyone move to discs for performance benefits?

I don't know anything about it except it does look smooth, but I can't see it out performing the Brembo brakes.

it isn't a drum brake. at least not in the sense of a regular drum brake. it does use discs. i remember last year there was a lot of hype going on with it, but turned out to have a lot of problems, ie. discs shattering, chrome peeling.

bart from cateye customs used to sell them, you could contact him and see what he thinks of the newer ones.

I just can't believe that these brakes can be nearly as effective as standard discs. Look at the total surface area of all disc pads used on a dual rotor front wheel and compare that to the surface area inside that 360 brake.

Less friction surface has to mean less braking power...doesn't it?

I love the looks of them.BUt IMO I don't see how they could perform very good. As small as they are, they have to get hot and hot brakes = no brakes. If you want to show off your wheel, look into Dave Cooks permiter rotors cookcustomchoppers.com , IMO they are a much better performing set up than the 360.

It's my understanding that they work like a clutch pac in an automatic transmission. Lot more friction area than meets the eye.
