I don't know the previous history on tensior changes on my bike. I bought it with 33,000 and pulled the cam cover at about 65,000 (about 18 months). The outer looked great, but the inner was about gone. I have since put another 13,000 on it and plan on looking at them when the bike hits 90,000...

No offense intended, i just wasn't sure if it was a typo. I also must endure the michigan summers, so i know where you are coming from.

Doesn't seem like much more than that sometimes. I just need to figure out how to fasten a carseat to the back of mine and i'd be all set. Unfortunately i'm not sure how legal that is

I wouldn't worry about your tensioners until you get about 20k, even then all you need to do is inspect them. At 33k on my '00 RK my tensioners still had lots of life in them.

I would make sure that your engine has the upgraded rear cam bearing. Early '00 engines have a ball bearing on the rear cam, Harley upgraded these to the roller bearing as there was some problems with them. Check your VIN with Harley.

I think 1000 miles in a year is just to much riding for that bike.

Exclamation Mine

These are my tensioners after about 65K... needless to say I ended up replacing the pump, dropping the oil pan and generally just cleaning the bottom end out... Check yours regularly!!!!

Assuming you have a couple of dental mirrors, someone to hold the light and some patience, you can retract and view the inner one fairly easily.
