AMA or AAA or Bros Club

AAA was way to expesive for me. I think if you have Cars and RV and whatever else through them, then it's reasonable.
HOG standard works for me, if someone is really worried about being stranded, then the upgraded HOG coverage is real good and still one of the cheapest. I think for less than 100 bucks they will tow you to closest dealer multiple times a year.

I was just at AAA office yesterday trying to get the motorcycle road assistance, they said you have to have the bike insured by them also..... is that true for you guys, they want 710 a year for the bike, almost double what I pay now for the same coverage. So if you have AAA bike road assistance coverage, do you also have the bike insured by them ?

One thing to know about AAA is that even if your AAA area does bikes, that coverage does not exist everywhere in the U.S. You could be stuck.
More important to me is having the best equipment taking me to a servicing dealer. On the way to Sturgis in 2004 my final drive belt ate a rock in a construction zone just south of Yellowstone. Flagg Ranch to be exact. HOG Road America immediately dispatched an enclosed bike trailer from the nearest dealer, which was Belgrade, Montana. Took him 8 hours to reach me because the park rules won't let them drive through Yellowstone. He had to drive down through Idaho and up through Jackson. We sweet talked our way into Yellowstone on the way back and arrived in Belgrade after dark. His wife had made me a reservation at a decent hotel, he dropped me off at the hotel and kept my bike in his trailer overnight. Was back at the hotel first thing in the morning to pick me up and take me to the dealer.
Can't beat service like that. And it didn't cost me a dime. (except for a generous tip)

I upgraded my HOG coverage last year to .... something... I don't know look it up. Anyway, the HOG membership I purchased also covers up to 3 cages - you just need to tell them which ones (truck, car, son's SUV). This was WAY cheaper than the same AMA coverage (for 3 cages and a bike).
I thought I'd try this out for a year but the thing I have always wondered about is, do you get what you pay for? (I suspect so.) I previously had another service that had pathetic coverage (had to break down beside a dealer to have the towing cost completely covered.). Took them 3 hours to change a tire on the truck for my QT and it still cost $120. I could have drove there and done it myself for less than that and I was several hours away from her.
I haven't had to use the HOG service yet so I'd be interested in hearing other rider's experiences.

That is correct. My point is that even though you may be technically 'covered', you may not get the appropriate equipment for a large motorcycle, and certainly wouldn't be guaranteed delivery to the nearest dealer. I have AAA Premium, but also CoachNet for my motorhome, and HOG Road America for the bike. Kinda a belt and suspenders thing I guess. I want to be sure the right equipment takes me to the nearest repairing dealer. HOG is the only one that I know of that delivers that everywhere. In my case, they drove hundreds of miles through 3 states to do just that. I'll bet AAA would not have done that, or if so, at signifcant additional charge.

I have the hog policy ...the mid level ....no cars ...just bike covered. My fuel canister broke about 2 miles from my home and they towed it to my house and came back the next day and took it to the dealership about 45 miles away .. no charge for either tow. They did send a regular wrecker with straps first and I said no to that... so the driver went back and got a flat bed and took me and the bike home with a smile. The whole process took about 1 1/2 hrs from breakdown to delivering to my home including switching trucks. I renewed it because I broke down in Kentucky a few yrs ago with my 99 Ultra and had a $375.00 bill for a 90 mile tow to the dealership in Lexington. That hurt.

Not in my case. HOG contacted the nearest dealer. Their equipment was already booked. The dealer referred another bike specialist who came and got me with an enclosed bike trailer. Was far in excess of 100 miles, which is my point. Don't get me wrong...if you are happy with AAA for your bike, that is wonderful. But in my situation in central Wyoming hundreds of miles from a dealer, AAA would not have done the job HOG did. HOG takes you to the nearest repairing dealer no matter how far it is. At least that was the program when I needed help.
