Are there any websites that recommend routes, lodging, places to see, stay, etc? I've been wanting to make that ride for more than a year and have it on my short list for this summer.

We were going to go but didn't due to the weather that was rolling in. I know on Saturday it was cold and windy (60mph winds) in Fairfield TX where we went. Only rode the bike to the park store to get ice... next time you're up that way ride from Bandera to Lost Maples state Park. awesome ride, especially in the fall.

Here's a good site: http://www.hillcountrycruising.com/the3s.html

Yesterday was a beautiful day to ride. I left Pflugerville about 11:00, rode to Luckenbach, enjoyed a bit of music, then headed south to Boerne (pronounced Bernie for you damn yankees ), took 46 to New Braunsfels, then back up towards Wimberly before going home. Had a dear run out in front of me, but otherwise no problems at all.

You're not kidding about that part of the country as far as deer go...a few years back, I was in my cage going to Wimberly. There were so many deer that I started counting. Counted 47 deer on a 1 mile stretch! It was nighttime. I want to ride the Hill Country, but am "askeered" of the deer after that episode. I know to avoid riding at dusk & dawn, but is there a better time of year when there aren't as many out?

For those of you interested, here's a fairly decent map of the Texas Hill Country.
