I had a fog lamp burn out and went to buy a new lamp. I thought I had to buy the whole bulb housing. They run around $45 to $80 depending on which ones you want and they come in pairs. I was going to purchase off e-bay but needed some chrome bolts so went to the dealer. I asked the parts person about buying the housing and she told me a little trick that reduced my investment to $8.63. If you take a razor blade and cut around the rubber on the back of the housing when you pull it off you can simply replace the halogen bulb like a car headlight. This may be widely known but not by me so thought I would share this little cost saver with anyone else that might be interested. The part number is #68918-98.
Thanks for the tip. I had one go out on a previous bike just out of warranty and paid $45 for a new pair. On my '08 one went out but they covered it under the warranty.
Are we talking about the running/passing/spot lights on the light bar of touring bikes? Like the old sealed beam ones, not the newer ones w/ a replaceable bulb? Or do you mean fog lights mounted lower somewhere, like on the crash bars?

Thanks.
Replacement bulbs for the running lights cost around 15 bucks each... just replaced one last week.
Yes, I am talking about the auxiliary lighting or passing lamps as listed on page 484 and 485 in the 2009 HD accessory catalogue. It is not necessary to buy the auxillary lamp bulb kit. You can cut the rubber off the back and replace the bulb in it for $9.00.
