I haven't been using this feature. I just went out to my '08 Ultra and used the method that TDA69 said to use. I held the throttle closed for about 2-5 seconds and it flashed red, then I held it closed and it flashed green. So I turned the kills switch back off, cut the key off and am now interested in testing it out.

I've had this bike for a year and didn't know how to activate it. My dealer mentioned it to me when I was getting check out before I left, but I forgot about it. :-)

Thanks for posting this thread !

Just went out to the garage to try it, turned on the ignition and lights started flashing all over (glad I don't have the siren), went back in to get the key fob, then back to the garage. When I rolled mine it took about 5 seconds to get the 2 green blinks. I didn't try it again to see if it would go to red as then I have just another reason to take her out for awhile. I do have a SERT on mine.

Default heat management

I have an 07 RK custom and was told by a friend that it can be done on my bike. I havent called the dealer yet. Is this true and if so will it change my mapping on my power commander. Im running rienhart true dualls and it runs great. I would hate to have to get it dynoed again.

When I picked up my bike last Sept, the head service manager at the local dealership looked at me like I was on drugs when I asked him about how to activate the heat management system. He was not aware of it...wow, you would think at least the service guys would know about the feature...

Great feature that has activated several times on the few hot days we have had.

The 03 models did have a heat managment system the difference is it can not be turned off on 06 and earlier bikes. It is a 3 phase system that 1st lowers the idle then as temp climbs it richens the mixture then it would finally skip fire the injectors. I rode a 03 Roadking for 5 years and would feel the HMM kick in at stop lights. I got this info from pages 13 and 14 of the users manual for SERT v4.77.

Was on 01-later softys, 02-later touring, 04-later dyna and 02-later V-rod.

If that's the case then I'm not too worried because I'm running a richer mixture than comes from the factory and that alone should keep it cooler anyway. Still...
Did you try it with the engine running? Also, if you have an early 08 you may have to have the dealer activate the system.

I wasn’t sure if I needed the system activated and when I went into the dealer to find out the service writer had no idea what I was talking about. I demonstrated rolling the throttle forward and pointing out the flashing cruse icon so he went in and talked to service. He came back and told me I was turning the cruse on and off. One of the reasons I don’t go to Peterson’s South anymore.

Service manual page 186 says it needs the Digital Technician Part #HD-44750. Obviously a tool we don't have.
Mine needs to be activated at the dealer I guess.

I have an 09 ultra & once I turn it on it stays on unless I turn it off. It doesn't turn off when I turn the bike off.
