Your windshield should be to the tip of your nose, so you can see over it

Your eyes should sit about 2 inches above the top edge of the windshield. You really should sit on the bike and have someone else do the measurements because it may change dependent upon you setup and how you sit in your seat.

I have two that I use all the time...when I have my Corbin touring seat on, I use a 9" HD clear windshield, and when I have the Sidekick seat (which sits a lot lower), I use a dark smoked 6". I haven't tried any aftermarket ones.

The main thing, as mentioned in the other posts, is to be able to see over the top. As I found out the hard way when I first bought my 'Glide and ran into some fog. It was heavy enough to coat the windshield but not enough to bead up and start running off, and I couldn't stretch far enough to see over the top. Major PITA.

I have the 9 1/2 inch HD tinted. It's perfect for me. I don't like looking through shields. I'm 5' 10".

I just installed an 8" in place of the stock 4" on my SG. That being said I feel kind of like I am looking through it too much. Maybe because I am paranoid of the volkswagon sized potholes around here. I just ordered a 6" from fastaire. Only $29 and they ship really fast.

I am 6' and have a 6" on an 07 SG. The wind still hits me on the top of the head but I never have to look through the shield.

Park the bike on a level surface. Put something on the ground 50 ft in front of the bike. Put a piece of masking tape in the inside of the shield. mark the tape where you see the item on the tape while sitting in your normal position. Measure from the base of the shield to the mark. That is the height of the shield.
